Representation Summary:

This site which adjoins Hellesdon and is adjacent to the country wildlife site of Drayton Woods, will be remote from Horsford, and therefore add an additional burden to the resources and services of Hellesdon which are already overstretched. Additionally the inevitable extra traffic will add to the already severe traffic congestion we experience in Hellesdon.

Representation Summary:

Hellesdon and Drayton are extremely short of recreation and open green spaces, this area represents the last remaining countryside in Hellesdon. An existing permissive path allows access to countryside and woodland and is very popular with walkers. Hellesdon is already committed to 1000 homes on the site of the golf course. If this area was also lost the community would have nowhere to walk away from developed areas. A loss of this last open space would cause a negative effect to the wellbeing of the community and local wildlife environment.

A development of this size would add to Hellesdons traffic problems and increase pressure on Hellesdon schools and doctors which are already stretched. If this development is passed the parish boundaries should be altered so at least Hellesdon would receive money to help address the pressure on amenities.

I object on the grounds that this site is away from the village of Horsford and therefore any development will place extra pressure on the amenities and facilities in Hellesdon and add to the traffic congestion that already exists within Hellesdon.
Also any local taxes will go to Horsford Parish Council, not Hellesdon which will bear the majority of the impact.
It is also adjacent to the Country Wildlife Site of Drayton Woods.

This piece of land, though technically part of Horsford is actually remote from that village and geographically a part of Hellesdon. It forms a very important green space for the residents of Hellesdon and there is already precious little of it in the parish.
Development would adversley affect the special site of Drayton Woods.
Hellesdon has already lost a huge amount of green space due to providing 1,000 new homes on the Golf Course site. Further development will add to traffic problems in Hellesdon and create extra demand for already overstretched services, whilst any extra funding would go to Horsdford!

building here will put strain on the roads and the facilities in Hellesdon. Although this area is Horsford residents will use the facilities of Hellesdon rather than cross the NDR. The facilities in Hellesdon are already over stretched. Hellesdon will lose even more open space. The application for a burial ground on this plot was turned down because the road infrastructure would not support the traffic generated. A housing estate will generate more traffic.
Finally the proximity of Norwich Airport Is this area not needed as an emergency crash area for the airport?

This area is Hellesdon. It has never been built on because it is part of the airport over shoot. It is entirely unsuitable for any development as the danger of an aircraft crashing on it is very real as has been proven previously. There is no suitable access onto a already heavily overloaded reepham road. It is immediately next to a country wildlife site. It will put more pressure on limited Hellesdon facilities and resources.

Representation Summary:

The proposal would mean losing access to the countryside by use of a permissive path that is much used by local dog walkers and residents. This access is highly important due to Hellesdon being overdeveloped and not having enough access to green space within it. This area should also be recognised as a 'green corridor' helping biodiversity from the wensum valley as identified in Hellesdon Neighbourhood Plan. In addition the impact upon services that are at capacity in Hellesdon would be felt by the residents who struggle to find parking and there Is no place to build more spaces.

Representation Summary:

Confusion over classification as Horsford
Negative impact on traffic volumes on Reepham Road and increase in traffic congestion in Hellesdon.
Increase in pressure on facilities and services within Hellesdon

Full text:

I am a little confused how this is classified as being within Horsford - the parish map on Horsford parish council website does not include this area and the Drayton Medical Practice does not cover this area. Hellesdon Medical Practice does so although classed as Horsford(?) it would fall to Hellesdon Medical Practice to look after any patients from new builds on this site. Why is this not classed as Hellesdon? Is it because there are already high numbers of homes being built on the Royal Norwich Golf Course (classed as Hellesdon) which will impact on facilities and services within Hellesdon?

Site adjacent to Drayton Woods (a wildlife site), used by many for dog walking, leisure walking, running and cycling. People need and deserve such space on their doorstep. It is important for a persons health and wellbeing.

Potentially up to 192 new homes on this site will have a significant negative impact on the traffic volumes on the Reepham Road, a road already heavily used as personally witnessed on a daily basis. This is already a difficult road to cross in Hellesdon for people accessing services, schools and the GP practice. There is no pedestrian crossing near the GP practice on Reepham Road which is essential considering the volumes of daily traffic and the need to protect pedestrians including the elderly and school children.

If the recycling centre relocates out of Norwich somewhere within this vicinity near the NDR the volume of traffic on Reepham Road is also likely to increase.

From Cllr Shelagh Gurney
Hellesdon will see significant housing growth in the next ten years, with housing in Eversley Road, 1000 new homes on the golf course, and the potential for further housing growth on the Hellesdon Hospital site. The local infrastructure cannot cope with any more development. The Doctors surgery is full, residents sometimes now waiting three to four weeks for an appointment. Any further housing growth adjacent to the parish boundary of Hellesdon, whether it be in Drayton or Horford technically will see those residents using the nearest facilities, which will not be those of the villages and parishes they lie in, but those in closer proximity in Hellesdon, yet those villages will have the added benefit of the Section 106 and CIL monies. For that reason alone, any future development adjacent to the Hellesdon Boundary is not of any benefit to Hellesdon. Schools are already oversubscribed, roads are jammed up, despite the Minho impact of the NDR. I cannot comment on proposals for land to the east of the Reepham Road as I live adjacent to a field boundary. However my residents view is that any further development of new housing along this periphery is not welcome for the same reasons as detailed above. Shelagh Gurney
