The site put forward for development of the brick works land would have the least impact on the landscape and wildlife in the village, but the safety of the roads has to be a major concern.
Bergh Apton was a small rural farming village, recent developments and the solar farm construction has already seen an increase in traffic, including heavy construction traffic. The mainly single carriage way roads around the village, and the only two roads into the village are already showing signs of erosion from increased traffic and the bank on the side of Slade Lane is looking in danger of collapse. At school drop off and collections times the single roads are unsafe to walk on or for children to cycle to school on. There is also a concern that traffic from this development will use a single carriage way road into Poringland which is a series of narrow stretches of road and blind bends, this road would have to have alterations made to the road or be turned into a one way system to be made safe.

This site is near other houses and has good access on to a suitable road. Mains drainage would be available.

* The site is close to the centre of the village and near the village sign, being adjacent to local authority housing.
* It is a greenfield site
* Mains drainage is available.
* The site was proposed under the Joint Core Strategy, but was not selected. In the interim, on the site itself, or the road that serves it, nothing has occurred to improve its status as a site suitable for development.

There is a site proposal for the neighbouring brownfield site which is far more suitable for development. It is qute inappropriate to build on both stes in a part of a small rural village which already has several council houses, social houses and some mixed housing. Developing both sites will turn a rural landscape into one which is urban.
The lane onto which the site opens is very narrow and will become very dangerous with increased traffic

This is a greenfield site.
Traffic is likely to be from the A146 which is a dangerous junction. Also visibility at the Mill Road Crossroads from Mill Road is very restricted and is becoming more dangerous with ever increasing traffic.

This is a greenfield site.
Concerns at the amount of traffic generated through the village. The junction at the A146 from Mill Road is dangerous and visibility from Mill Road at the Mill Road Crossroads is extremely poor, and improvement measures should be taken.

This would be another favourable side and would tidy up what is a rather untidy area. In view of its location properties of a lower value attracting younger people and families would be favourable for this site Again there are a variety of routes for roads leading to this site

A greenfield site in a rural village.
There is a 60mph speed limit and very limited footpath provision for a busy road used extensively for access to the nearby recycling plant.
The village has poor drainage and poor road access.

Bergh Apton has had a number of developments recently and therefore is it fair for more?
The street, Bergh Apton is very narrow.
Increased traffic would mean more trying to access the A146. Slade lane leading to the A146 already has queuing traffic.
There are NO amenities in apart from a Post Office.
Alpington School is full to capacity.
There is NO mains drainage in the street.
The village prides itself on its conservation and environmental strategies and further development would cancel out its efforts.
The fields and rough ground surrounding Bergh Apton are home to a Barn Owl.
We are writing in response to the proposal for further development in Bergh Apton as listed above.
Please find listed the reasons we feel Bergh Apton is not suitable.
1. Bergh Apton has had a number of developments recently and therefore is it fair for more?
2. The street, Bergh Apton is very narrow (only 1 car's width in places) A number of these cottages do not have parking and therefore park in this very narrow road, making passing impossible. The road is already over used by long vehicles along with increased traffic, which is uses residents front drives as passing places.
3. Increased traffic would mean more vehicles trying to access the A146. Slade lane leading to the A146 already has queuing traffic during peak times.
4. There are NO amenities in Bergh Apton apart from a Post Office at Hellington Corner.
5. Alpington School (the nearest and most likely to be used by young families) is full to capacity.
6. There is NO mains drainage in the street and the cess pits have to be emptied regularly.
7. Bergh Apton as a village prides itself on its conservation and environmental strategies and further development would cancel out its efforts.
8. The fields and rough ground surrounding Bergh Apton are home to a resident Barn Owl. it is seen daily hunting particularly in The Street, Dodgers Lane and Church road.
We hope you will consider these points when making your decision.

This small field is situated right behind three grade two listed houses. A "Bergh Apton" barn owl and family reside close by and daily visit this field. This field lies directly behind these three, Grade two listed houses which means any houses built in this field will be right behind the gardens overlooking, not only the back gardens but all the living areas of the grade two listed houses, encroaching on their privacy.
I will be devastated if my views of trees and shrubs and wildlife are replaced by ugly modern houses that are not welcome in Bergh Apton
To, Whom it may concern,
Please read enclosed notes Re - building In Bergh Apton,
I applied twice for a response form and neither of them ever arrived.
Many from Bergh Apton have tried to respond online but failed every time they tried to do so, and are puzzled to know why it wont accept their response.
Please consider mine, and others response, to the impact that more building sites will have on residents of Bergh Apton.
Thank you

GNLP0203 - This small field is situated right behind three grade two listed houses. These houses are well known and famous and often feature in books written about Norfolk because of their history and architectural interest including photographs.
A "Bergh Apton" barn owl and family reside close by and daily visit this field. Much loved and protected by Bergh Apton residents. This field lies directly behind these three, Grade two listed houses which means any houses built in this field will be right behind the gardens overlooking, not only the back gardens but all the living areas of the grade two listed houses, encroaching on their privacy. I am privileged to live in one of these houses. I bought the house because of its character, history and that no houses overlooked my garden or living area and the architectural interest.
I will be devastated if my views of trees and shrubs and wildlife are replaced by ugly modern houses that are not welcome in Bergh Apton and that my privacy will be lost, as every area of my living space will be overlooked. Our houses will become part of a housing estate. Please see notes at end.
GNLP0412 - Yes this site is a mess, but the advantage is that the trees and shrubs surround the site and it can hardly be seen. If a housing estate is built, the threes and shrubs will be replaced by fences. The housing estate will stick out like a sore thumb at the top of the farmers field - what an eyesore for Bergh Apton Residents!!
GNLP0533 - The street used to have Cottages, Farms and Character, Now its beginning to look like a modern coronation street. Houses after houses. I feel so sorry for the residents.
GNLP0203/0412 - Church Road is a narrow, bendy road which has a very limited amount of traffic- It is not designed to accommodate a volume of cars and can be very dangerous at times.
Berch Apton is a quiet, quirky village. The nearest doctors is 5 miles away - there are no schools, one bus per day, when the snow came, we were cut off for 5 days - nothing accessible. Supermarkets are a miles away, there are no amenities! The houses recently built are not in keeping with the area and many sitting empty.
Please, Please Please!!
No more houses in Bergh Apton. Please don't continue to ruin our village and spoil what is left of our parish. The architectural interest of the grade two listed houses will be beried amoungst a modern housing estate.
