Respondent: Mr Allan Kerr

Representation Summary:

This could be suitable as a long term aim for housing that is different from the standard ribbon development we have traditionally had to endure in Bunwell.
A proper community could be founded here but it would require some green communal areas to be included. There is a recreational ground nearby but that would not suffice as it is away from this triangle on the other side of the B1113.

Respondent: Mr Phil Gledhill

Representation Summary:

This site already has an allocation of 8 houses set by SNC which followed a village meeting in 2012 where the parish council proposal for at least 80 homes, with many on the site by the Turnpike(GNLP0009)was defeated with 102 residents opposed and only 11 in favour. This site is not at the centre of the village and there are other sites, better suited for minor development nearer to the village centre.

This site already has an allocation for 8 houses and further building would spoil existing views for local residents, visitors and passers by. Significant development would most certainly have an undesirable and dominating effect upon the village, on a site which is not even at the centre of the village thereby increasing road traffic significantly for requirements at local services. Other sites nearer the village centre are more suited for minor development and are within easy walking distance. In 2012, 102 Bunwell residents backed SNC's plan which earmarked their village for between 15 and 20 homes as part of the 37,000 for the GNDP joint core strategy(re EDP 11/9/2012). Fears were expressed over the Parish Council's proposal for at least 80 new homes, with many concentrated on the site by the Turnpike (GNLP0009). Only 11 voted in favour of the Parish Council proposal.
