Representation Summary:

I do not want this housing estate to be built and would suggest a fairer compromise being a recreational area??

Full text:

I strongly object to any housing developments on this plot behind heath crescent.

I brought this house 4 years ago because I had a 1 year old and I wanted him to be brought up in a peaceful area on a quiet street where we could still see some green areas from our windows! Green space is something we are so short of nowadays, especially in hellesdon.

I have to walk across the busy ring road ( with no crossing lights ) to take my son to the nearest park!

Personally, every single reason why I purchased a house on this road would be taken away by a housing estate being built behind my back garden. The traffic will be terrible, noise will therefore increase, and the view of that nice green space will be replaced by yet more bricks!

Although I appreciate that the space sitting there doing absolutely nothing is a complete waste I would ask someone to entertain the idea that given that hellesdon lacks green space anyway, that maybe we consider this space being used as a recreational area with parking providing. Somewhere for parents to take their kids and people to take their pets? That way we wouldn't completely lose the green space and traffic would only be increased during certain periods of the day.
Seems like a fairer compromise to me than dumping a building site on people's back gardens with no benefit to them whatsoever.

Many thanks

He is now 5 and enjoys playing on his bike and often uses heath crescent as the traffic flow is light. If this project was to go ahead the traffic implications on our quiet road would be enormous!

My back garden backs directly on to this playing field and my current view would completely change from the back of my house. Again. One of the reasons I broughtt this house was because of its rare lovely view despite

GNLP0332R
GNLP0334R - There are three main routes through Hellesdon into Norwich City Centre. Namely Drayton Rd, Reedham Rd and Cromer Road on Drayton Rd 'Green land' has been threaten to build on golf course. When completed this will cause many traffic holds ups. If you intend to build houses (possibly 1000), This will make travelling on Reedham Rd very difficult as this road onto the boundary lights is not suitable at present and extra traffic from the 'building sites' will make matters worse.

The Cromer road is not an alternative route because this is a busy road made worse by the building of houses in eversley road and the proposed building of houses in heath crescent.

With all these 'planned new homes'. (There are already insufficient services available in Hellesdon I.E Doctors, Schools etc.) Where are the 'new people' going to obtain these services?
If Horsford are receiving money from developers, why should Hellesdon residents be inconvenienced.

Reepham Road isn't big enough for the volume of traffic it will bring into the village.

It's a problem to get an app. At the doctors so adding more housing is making it worse. The A&E will be overrun with people who get an app. With the G.P.
Green Space we need for relaxation and health helping to relieve depression and stress. Saving app. With the G.P.
Not enough local school to take more children.

I thought that the recent planning permission for the homes on the golf course were all Hellesdon had to give in terms of land for new houses. Hellesdon has always been a lovely quiet community and we are in danger of losing that with the prosed houses. The residents of Hellesdon should have some land left that isn't built on and to build on what is currently airport 'crash' land is completely ridiculous. I also don't see how the infrastructure of the roads can cope with more houses. There also haven't been any information given to residents with regards to schools, doctor's surgeries and dentists. It's difficult enough to get into Hellesdon schools without having to fight an 1000's more people for places.

With this amount of houses. Shouldn't we get a new hospital and doctor's surgeries new road to take increased traffic?
More police officers and ambulances and fire services.

GNLP0334R - west of Reepham Road
North of Doctor Surgery - with this amount of houses being built. I am concerned that it will be almost impossible to get a doctor's appointment at our local surgery. This is a valuable green space that need to be kept as recreation for residents in that area.

GNLP0334R and GNLP0332R - I have serious concerns about the building of up to 1,000 houses combined on these two area. Firstly it would mean up to 2,000 extra vehicles using the Reepham Road which is already a very busy road and it is not suitable for such volume of traffic being only a Broad and quite narrow in places. Surely it would make more sense to site housing nearer to the new Northern Distributor Road to save more traffic coming into Hellesdon. Hellesdon already has new large housing developments underway on the old golf course, with more planned for the Hellesdon Hospital site and I feel it just cannot sustain even more. The doctor's surgery would be inadequate as it is already full to capacity, the local services, library, community centre etc. would be overwhelmed. There is very limited parking at all the local shops and it is already difficult to find a space so more cars coming in the boundary of Horsford, it is technically classed as coming in the boundary of Horsford, and it is obvious that anyone living there would use Hellesdon facilities as they are so much closer. Also these areas are directly under flight path to Norwich Airport.

This land is ideal for the young people of Hellesdon as there is little space at this end of Hellesdon for children to run & have fun. Also more houses more children more cars more spaces needed for schools and doctors.

This is never taken into account when building as money for houses is more important if the houses are affordable (which is good) it would mean more children and less places to play. Also all the school and doctors are full and even if you are registered seeing a doctor takes weeks

0332r - this development would clearly have problems again with traffic and the same as above

There is congestion on Cromer Road already and cars are queuing to exit and enter both Heath Cresent and Brabazon Road. Hazards exist already with several cars parked at the Cromer road Brabazon road entrance, and the same on Heath Cresent. A new housing development will encourage car users to travel along Prince Andrews road/ Brabazon road to exit on to Cromer Road. Housing numbers too dense for plot and the location. Concern that existing housing will be overshadowed and over-looked. Access and safety issues for existing residents during building works. Re-creating a rat run between Fifers Lane and Cromer Road. Increasing pressure on already over-crowded roads. Loss of green space in a village which has less than the recommended area for parks/recreation grounds etc. A much smaller development should be considered as an alternative.

Full text:

I am concerned that the proposal for 50 houses is too dense for the size of the plot. Prince Andrews Road is a narrow, winding road and it would cause existing residents a great deal of inconvenience in accessing their properties if vehicles associated with the proposed building works were parked on Prince Andrews Road. It would also have an impact on safety for pedestrians and road users. Therefore, the development needs to be small enough to accommodate these vehicles on the building plot.

A much smaller housing development would be more appropriate for the size and location of the plot. Housing surrounding the development is predominantly bungalows, the new housing should not exceed two stories to ensure the existing housing is not overshadowed and overlooked.

Creating access to the plot from Prince Andrews Road in addition to the current access from Heath Crescent could cause a rat run to be re-created from Fifers Lane to Cromer Road. The addition of perhaps 100 cars from this proposed development will only add to the congestion already encountered on Cromer Road and Fifers Lane. A smaller development would have less of an impact on the surrounding roads.

A considerable amount of additional housing has been proposed for Hellesdon and 1000 houses are currently being built on the golf course. To support all this additional housing public services and amenities will need to be expanded to cope with the additional population. In particular local roads, schools, doctor surgeries and parks/recreation grounds, the latter of which Hellesdon already has less than the recommended amount for the size of the village. Could part of this plot be used for recreation, as it is no longer used by Jarrolds, to begin to address this imbalance?

I find this proposal totally unacceptable for numerous reasons, one of the main reasons is the high volume of traffic it will cause on Prince Andrews Road and Heath Crescent leading out to Cromer road. With potentially 50-150 extra cars, vans and delivery lorries etc I can see both junctions to Cromer road backing up until they meet each other in the middle. Another main reason is this side of Hellesdon is crying out for green space and this is a ready made facility that would enhance what the Parish council already maintains, there are tennis courts and an international sized bowling green going to waste if this goes through. The road infrastructure in this area is already poor and overloaded, this development would only increase the problems local residents have now. Access to the site even with the house removed it totally inadequate.

To add to this you appear to be proposing 50 dwellings which may mean a possible 100 cars in and out all day 7 days a week. As for the one way in one way out does not sound plausible to me, because of the dividing bollards on heath crescent, if they were to remain as they are people would not abide by the scheme. for example, if one is entering prince Andrews rd from Cromer and vice verse they would not exit heath crescent and go onto congested fifers lane. We are very concerned about the possible loss of green space in Hellesdon, which is already very short of recreational area. This site, previously Jarrolds Sport Ground, would be an ideal community facility - which today when we are encouraged to be more active for the sake of our health, would be a good use of this site. We hope you will consider this when making your decision on its future use.
