GNLP0336

Representation ID: 13753

Received: 12/03/2018

Respondent: 1st Aylsham Scout Group

Representation Summary:

The Armstrong Rigg Planning representation on behalf of Westmere Homes' proposal for the Land next to the River Bure site intends to include a 'community zone', something that the Aylsham Local Neighbourhood Plan would be supportive of. As part of the community facilities an area of land for a Scout Ground where a new HQ for the 1st Aylsham Scout Group could be built would be immensely beneficial for the Scout Group and the local community. The 1st Aylsham Scout Group is therefore supportive of the Westmere Homes proposal for the GNLPO336 site.

It would mean that each section (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) could meet at the same place and share equipment and resources instead of being on split sites. The Scout Group currently has a waiting list for each section and is unable to meet the demand for membership for each section because of a lack of meeting venues within Aylsham. A dedicated Scout Ground would better enable the Scout Group to recruit local adults new to the movement as leaders in order to run additional Beaver, Cub and Scout sections to meet the current and future demand to join the Group. The 1st Aylsham Scout Group is therefore supportive of the Westmere Homes proposal for the GNLPO336 site.
