Representation Summary:

Capacity of Reepham Road and Drayton High Road to cope with increased traffic capacity

Full text:

Our comments relate to the impact any proposed developments would have on the capacity of the Reepham Road and Drayton High Road (A1067) to cope with the extra traffic that would be generated.
The Reepham and Drayton High Roads are already very busy at peak times. The Reepham Road traffic tails back at the Boundary Road junction, often over 100 metres. There are no discernible easy options to increase its capacity further.
Also the size of the two roundabouts recently added to the Reepham Road as part of the NDR development are relatively small and not designed to cope with large volumes of traffic on the Reepham Road.
Proposal GNL0337 relates to approximately 1400 dwellings. With most employment opportunities existing in Norwich this increased commuter traffic would have a big impact on the Reepham Road. GNL0337 create traffic pressure.
There are also numerous other proposals in the Hellesdon area which would further exacerbate pressure on the Reepham Road nearer the Boundary Road junction.
An alternative to commuting into Norwich from GNL0337 would be to use the Drayton High Road. This road is even more congested than the Reepham Road and there are no discernible easy options to increase its capacity further.
