From Cllr Shelagh Gurney
Hellesdon will see significant housing growth in the next ten years, with housing in Eversley Road, 1000 new homes on the golf course, and the potential for further housing growth on the Hellesdon Hospital site. The local infrastructure cannot cope with any more development. The Doctors surgery is full, residents sometimes now waiting three to four weeks for an appointment. Any further housing growth adjacent to the parish boundary of Hellesdon, whether it be in Drayton or Horford technically will see those residents using the nearest facilities, which will not be those of the villages and parishes they lie in, but those in closer proximity in Hellesdon, yet those villages will have the added benefit of the Section 106 and CIL monies. For that reason alone, any future development adjacent to the Hellesdon Boundary is not of any benefit to Hellesdon. Schools are already oversubscribed, roads are jammed up, despite the Minho impact of the NDR. I cannot comment on proposals for land to the east of the Reepham Road as I live adjacent to a field boundary. However my residents view is that any further development of new housing along this periphery is not welcome for the same reasons as detailed above. Shelagh Gurney
