Full text:

This is an inappropriate use for greenfield land when land has already been earmarked for industrial use elsewhere locally. The increased traffic movements involved will make this stretch of the A140 more dangerous (little mitigation is possible in terms of north-south visibility owing to the terrain) and cause increased pollution. It will cause environmental degradation as a result of the avoidable loss of trees and hedges, and will occupy farmland that we are going to need in future. Brownfield sites should always be used in preference to agricultural land for development of any sort, but particularly for industrial development, which has relatively high undesirable impacts on the communities on which it is imposed, in terms of noise, air and light pollution, among other factors.
