Representation ID: 17123

Received: 17/11/2018

Respondent: Mr David Chapman

Representation Summary:

Dangerous exit on a bend from the proposed development onto the already narrow Church Road.
The additional traffic will swamp this quiet village.
No local facilities (contrary to that stated in the application).
Hazardous junction with Church Road and the A140 and the increase in vehicle movement will increase the risk of accidents at this point and on the bend where the exit to the proposed site is to be located.

This is a badly thought through housing proposal which smacks of profiteering from an equally badly thought through scheme proposing an industrial site for Ben Burgess close by.
The proposed entrance/exit to the site is a narrow road leading on to an equally narrow Church Road onto an extremely dangerous bend in the village. Whilst the number of dwellings to be erected on this proposed site has not been disclosed, the fact that they are to be "low cost" suggests several with an equally large number of cars requiring access and exit from the development.
The village and surrounding roads are narrow and dangerous and this can only worsen should car numbers be increased. The junction of Church Road and the A140 is already dangerous, particularly for those seeking to turn right heading south. To add to the numbers already using the village as a "rat run" from Mulbarton to gain access to the A140, would create a major hazard at this junction.
