Respondent: Mr Barry Bloor

Representation Summary:

Too small an area for so many homes. The area lacks the roads to accommodate the inevitable increase and traffic. We need a green area open to the public as Hellesdon's similar amenities are too far away from this part of our suburb to be reached easily.

This is a small piece of green land that is thoroughly unsuitable to accommodate 50 or more new homes. This part of Hellesdon has very little in the way of green space and is surrounded by by overcrowded busy roads that cannot accommodate even more traffic; namely Fifers Lane, Cromer Road, Reepham Road and Middletons Lane. With hundreds of homes already planned for the old golf course and past Hellesdon towards Horsford we are moving towards traffic gridlock in the area. This small piece of greenery should be provided instead to local families as a much needed area for relaxation, with amenities for children to play and adults to relax or exercise. Hellesdon Recreation Ground is a car journey away for most residents in this area which just compounds the traffic issues. Also Heath Crescent was bollarded some years ago due to the intolerable amount of traffic using it as a rat run. Why turn back the clock and increase the amount of traffic in this quiet residential rea?
