Of all the proposed developments to Swainsthorpe this is the most objectionable. The size, scale and nature of the project is not in keeping with the character of the village, and places additional pressure on already exhausted travel routes. The heavily congested A140 will not be aided by slow-moving vehicles and, given the condition of local minor roads, we do not wish to encourage drivers to use Church Road as a cut-through.

Furthermore, the site would dwarf Swainsthorpe, bringing great disruption to a diminutive village and raising genuine concerns about expansion of the site in due course. The present arable farmland provides cultural ecosystem services in addition to wildlife habitat, and the ineluctable blot on the landscape of industrial machinery, noise and pollutants curtails enjoyment of the surrounding area. The employment benefits to the local area have been exaggerated, as this calm environment is particularly popular with retirees and home workers. I have only just moved here from Loddon in order to live somewhere more peaceful and quiet. Had this development been listed on the local authority search, I may not have done so, and would certainly not have done so at the price I paid.

I am dismayed by the number of comments from those who previously lived in the area or indeed perhaps never have, and who are therefore protected from the negative impacts of any upcoming changes. I understand support for the development comes from within the industry, and I appreciate the convenience of having the company headquarters within easy travelling distance, but it is really quite different to commute somewhere occasionally and to live under its shadow.
