Draft Local Plan-Part 2 Site Allocations

Representation ID: 20132

Received: 22/02/2020

Respondent: Mr Andrew Nickerson

Representation Summary:

I write in support of the Hellesdon Parish Council's resolution to provide greater green space, particularly in the area between Cromer Rd and Fifers Lane.

In the future, if the status quo remains, my family's choices for local recreational ground would necessitate the crossing of a busy main road. This is bizarre considering this piece of land existing a stone's throw from my home.

I can understand Jarrolds' desire to profit from their ownership of this land by developing it. However, the benefit to the community of making this a public open space, particularly given the extent to which Hellesdon is being developed in terms of housing, should not be forgotten.

I hope that opportunities will be explored to allow this land to be used for the benefit of the community and generations to come.

One of the persuasive factors (in moving to the local area) was the proximity to the local park. If baffled me to discover that this park is in fact private land belonging to Jarrolds and currently closed off.
