Respondent: Mr Geoffrey NORMAN Stevens

Representation Summary:

GNLP1002 already deemed unsuitable in the HELAA suitability assessment and should not be considered further. GNLP1002 sites are isolated from local established communities. Development of GNLP1002 would create an urban sprawl into farmland and destroy the rural nature of Forncett. In keeping with recent planning applications on Northfield Road which were either amended or rejected by SNC to preserve the rural nature of the local area, these sites should not be considered for development as this would be contrary to the Councils strict planning criteria.

Respondent: Dr Mike Merrick

Representation Summary:

These three sites are located between the ancient settlements of Forncett (St. Peter and St. Mary) and Forncett End.

Development here would completely change the character of the village. It would virtually double the acreage of developed land within the parish and the local village infrastructure could not possibly support a development of this scale.

All the sites adjoin minor roads which could not possibly cope with the resultant traffic. The majority of traffic would be likely to travel via Forncett End to the B1113 and this road would be completely incapable of carrying this weight of traffic.

This number refers to a total of three sites all of which lie within the parish of Forncett but are located between the ancient settlements of Forncett St. Peter and St. Mary (in the Tas valley) and Forncett End (on the B1113 adjacent to Tacolneston).

Development of any of these sites would be very strongly resisted by local residents. Development here would completely and irrevocably change the character of the village. If all three were developed then they would virtually double the acreage of developed land within the parish. As we have argued elsewhere (see our response to Qu. 24), neither Tacolneston nor Forncett has the necessary services to be classed as Service Villages. Consequently the local village infrastructure could not possibly support a development of this scale.

All of the three sites adjoin minor roads and there is no road infrastructure that could possibly cope with the traffic that would arise from such a development. The majority of traffic from these sites would be likely to travel via Forncett End to the B1113 and this road would be completely incapable of carrying this weight of traffic.
