Site Proposals document

Representation ID: 15972

Received: 22/03/2018

Respondent: Mr John Hamey

Representation Summary:

The site is designated as an Important Local Open Space. A recent planning application was rejected and the appeal was dismissed; circumstances have not changed since. If it is to be sustainable, the current rapid development of Hethersett makes the preservation of open space and the creation of corridors and refuges for wildlife even more important.

Full text:

The site is designated as an Important Local Open Space, as identified in Policy DM 4.4 in the DM Policies Document (2015) and its development would involve the loss of a significant proportion of the ILOS. In addition it would materially harm the open character and appearance of the remainder.

A recent planning application (South Norfolk Council reference number 2014/2429) was rejected and the appeal APP/L2630/W/15/3034084 was dismissed.

There has been no change of circumstance since these determinations.

In addition to be sustainable the rapid development of Hethersett calls for the preservation of open space and the creation in consultation with neighbouring planning authorities of corridors and refuges for wildlife. Gardens aside, this will be part of the only significant open space remaining in Hethersett on completion of the developments for which planning permission has already been granted; it is significant that the new developments make no provision for extensive open spaces of this kind.
