Respondent: Mr Ian Fletcher

Representation Summary:

1. Loss of green space again in the immediate area. Lack of facilities for exercise, sports facility and childrens' play area. Better to allow local Council to lease the area for such use.
2. Increased traffic in already congested area. Fifers Lane/Cromer Road junction regularly congested. Local roads not built for increased vehicular traffic.
3. Increased air pollution.
4. Are additional houses here really necessary considering large building sites already ongoing in Hellesdon area.
5. Unnecessary demolition of large family home to provide access to the site.

1. Loss of green space. A further loss of recreational area for the people of Hellesdon. When I first moved to Hellesdon 20 years ago, we had access to a green area in Diamond Road, which butted onto my garden. Although in the Norwich City area, this was still available to locals for recreational activities but now built over with warehouses. To lose this area off Heath Crescent would be a further loss of our "green and pleasant land". Much better that the local Council be allowed to lease the land for the use of all and the possible reuse as sporting facilities. A further childrens' play area could be provided allowing a safe area for our children to play.
2. Increased traffic in area. A further 50 homes on this site would mean the anticipated use of 100 cars which would add to the already very busy areas of Fifers Lane, which is routinely gridlocked at most times of the day or alternately pushing cars into Prince Andrews Road and Heath Crescent which were never intended for high vehicle use. Increased vehicular traffic in the area and through the Fifers Lane/Cromer Road junction is assured with increased expansion of industry in the Airport area.
3.Increased air pollution as a result of increased and congested traffic.
4. Is it really necessary for the additional houses intended to be built on this site. Hellesdon is already a major house building area with the Golf Course site on going and other areas towards the NDR anticipated.
5. To gain access to this site it is intended that a large family house be demolished in Prince Andrews Road. I would suggest that would be a great loss to the area.
