I object to this proposal.
There are no facilities in Honingham; no shop, no Post Office, no Doctors surgery. All these would have to be accessed outside the Village, bus services are limited and cannot be relied upon for commuting. Brown field sites in Norwich are far better placed for this allocation. I believe that this proposal is just a bridgehead for much more housing on this land in the future. This land should be retained for food production. There are already several unsold dwellings. No more required in Honingham.

The proposed development of 12 dwellings off Dereham Road in Honingham is unacceptable on the following grounds:
- would be precursor to further development on land behind
- would adversely affect rural nature of village and heritage assets
- there is limited infrastructure
- there are few job opportunities, would encourage commuting into Norwich
- drainage in area is already under stress, flooding on Dereham Road is a significant issue

It is about the infrastructure of the village of Honingham, we have no schools, no shops, no surgery and no bus service within the village which will impact heavily on the village. I do think that if we have to have any more houses built they should be nearer to the bus routes.
We have to maintain the farming industry in this county and compulsory purchasing swathes of it for houses will seriously damage it.
there are are huge developments going up around Norfolk which makes me wonder why a small development such as this has to be deemed viable.

This would adversely affect the rural nature of Honingham and the heritage assets of the village. The village cannot adequately cope with further housing as it has very limited infrastructure of road networks and has no village shop, no doctor’s surgery or school. There are few job opportunities in the area so the inhabitants of these proposed houses, would have to commute to Norwich or elsewhere, adding to further traffic congestion. The drainage in this area is already under stress as flooding on the Dereham Road has become a significant issue and further housing would only exacerbate the problem.

Honingham is being besieged by plans for the new Norwich Western Link, for major changes and dualling of the A47 and its junctions and by development of a huge farm hub. This is rural Norfolk which should be able to maintain and support a modest rural community. Honingham has no aspirations to become a dormitory town for Norwich. It has no school, medical centre or shop. A development of the size now proposed, although appreciably smaller than originally suggested, remains out of scale with the entire character of the village which is on the point of being destroyed.

This would be ridiculous to build these properties here. We do not have any shops in our village, there isn't a reliable bus route, this would add pressure on the roads, drainage, utilities, medical and education services. we do not need any more housing in our beautiful village, this would be the beginning of ruining the beautiful countryside that we have all around us Honingham, this is a beautiful village and very community based. Bringing in more people can also bring in more crime. Also think about the wildlife this will affect !!
I completely object against this proposal.

Seems to me like a sensible piece of infill, which can do no real harm to the village. Access to Norwich and Dereham will be enhanced once the A47 is improved, so commuting will be no real issue.
Hopefully care would be taken, in planning, to improve the speed limit enforcement along this busy stretch of road.

Honingham has no shop, Post Office, school or doctors' surgery. There is no bus service through the village. The nearest bus stop is a hard 10 minute walk to an exposed area. I suspect the actual number of homes built will be greater than proposed. I would be interested to know what price is considered 'affordable'.

A precursor to further development.
Adverse effect on the rural nature of the village.
Detrimental impact on neighboring/adjacent properties by elevation.
Detriment to existing listed cottages and heritage assets.
Limited infrastructure unable to cope with significant further development.
No public transport will add to existing traffic congestion.
Further housing would exacerbate existing drainage/flooding issues.
This proposal provides for at least 12 dwellings and is clearly a precursor to further development. This application should be considered as a precedent for further development.
The site occupies an elevated position; the proposed properties would overlook and have a detrimental impact on the residential amenities of neighboring/adjacent properties by virtue of the dominance created by the site elevation.
The provision of such a number of properties (or more) will significantly and adversely affect the rural nature of this village by reason of the prominent position near to listed cottages and heritage assets including the war memorial.
The village has limited infrastructure with no shop or medical facilities which cannot adequately cope with significant further housing or development.
There a few employment opportunities in the village, no school or public transport. Inhabitants of the proposed properties would have to commute for work, school, shopping and medical care adding to existing traffic congestion and environmental pollution.
Drainage in this area is already under stress and regularly floods. Further housing would exacerbate the problem.

Honingham is a rural village. It is already having to accept major changes to the A47, the arrival of the Norwich Western link and the numerous junctions needed to support the road network changes. Light industry has arrived close by in the form of a food hub. This is enough change and development for any village to be dealing with at one time.

Honingham is countryside not urban fringe, we should protect our rural setting. If we are serious about being carbon neutral by 2050 planning policy should seek to minimize travel as much as possible with major emphasis on city development.
This proposal would be to the detriment of listed buildings.
Please reconsider, keep this field for food production!

The application is the thin end of the wedge to a much larger development in a quiet rural village which has a limited ability to support any residential development. There has already been representation for large scale development on this site.
The site proposed is in an elevated position & will be detrimental to the privacy of existing properties with overlooking.
Surface water drainage within the village is an ongoing issue with flooding on The Street & Dereham Road & further development is bound to make this worse.
There are no shops or other facilities to support more housing.

Honingham does not have the facilities of larger rural villages. Existing properties are in proportion to its location and are characteristic of the smaller Norfolk villages which often include some heritage items - in Honingham's case a War Memorial and heritage cottages. Attempts to expand it by introducing houses as proposed will cause it to become a dormitory development for Norwich. Almost all facilities - and jobs - will have to be reached by road, adding to the already heavy traffic. Drainage in the area is a major concern. Has consideration has been given to finding any small brownfield sites?

Honingham Parish Council object to site GNLP2176. The village can not support this increase in house numbers. The village has no shop, school, doctors or regular bus service in the village. This site is not sustainable and would damage the rural nature of the village.
Honingham Parish Council object to site GNLP2176. The village can not support this increase in house numbers and the location of the site leaves itself open to future development, increasing pressure on the village. This is demonstrated by the previous submission for the same site which was originally for 55 houses. Opening up this site to development of any size would have a detrimental effect on the village and should been seen within the bigger picture. The village has no shop, school, doctors or regular bus service in the village. There are very few local jobs and therefore everyone who wished to live in this location would be required to travel outside of the parish, increasing pressure on already congested local roads and services.
The site is sloped towards Dereham Road. The village suffers from regular flooding and problems with drainage as more pressure is put onto the drainage system and the River Tud. The area at the junction of Dereham Road, The Street and Hall Drive experiences regular incidences of standing water and flooding, a location where the Grade II listed War Memorial is situated. Adding additional buildings in the area could have significant impacts on this area, both in terms of additional flooding problems, and the rural nature of the village and its important historic architecture.
The Parish Council object to this site and can see no justifiable reason why it should be considered suitable. This site is not sustainable and would damage the rural nature of the village.

Issues raised -
Dwellings would overlook existing houses.
Potential drainage issues.
Increased light pollution.
Honingham will be detrimentally affected by the building of the Norther Distributer Link with the A47 so should be spared new developments within the village.
These proposed houses being on higher land would overlook the existing dwellings (some of which are listed) on the other side of the street, impinging on their privacy. Also the increasing frequency of severe rainfall events may result in water run off issues from the site affecting these properties. The construction of 12 dwelings would also increase light pollution in a hitherto relatively dark sky area. While it cannot be denied more housing is needed in Norfolk, brownfield sites should be fully exhaused before more of the countryside is concreted over.
Plus, as the village is to suffer the building of the western link of the Northern Distributer Road with the A47, north of the village, with the resulting increased air, noise and light pollution, Honingham's residents should be spared additional developments within the village.

A47 dualling and NDR link is already more than honingham can handle. Overlooking existing properties, loss of habitat, no amenities, no schools, no bus stop, water run off, light pollution, plenty of brownfield sites. Single properties being refused in the village. Ridiculous proposal. Please do not approve this site, honingham doesn't deserve it!
This is a ridiculous proposal. Is honingham not being ruined enough with the dualling of the a47 and the Western link of the ndr? 12 more houses in a village with no amenities, not even a bus stop in the village. Where a perfectly good housing plot for a single house was repeatedly refused. The land is higher and therefore will overlook the surrounding houses. Water run off will increase the flooding issues currently suffered in the village. The area near fellowes Road was deemed unacceptable due to not being within walking distance of a school! So why is this area acceptable? There are important habitats, including visiting turtle doves and a winter roost of red kites nearby so why lose important feeding grounds for these birds amongst other important animals. Light pollution will be a huge consequence to the village with the dualling let alone 12 new houses. I understand more housing is needed but there's plenty of brownfield land to use first. Please do not approve this site, honingham doesn't deserve it!

I strongly object to the building of further residential properties in Honingham. I have recently moved to Honingham from Wymondham, I have seen hundreds of new homes built in Wymondham. Developments start with a few houses then once the land has been established as residential hundreds more follow. Surely some areas of Norfolk should preserved as small quiet villages for those people that choose to live that way.

It would be a shame to see more houses in Honingham. It has a close knit community. After living in Wymondham for 30 years and seeing the growth of housing developments (which are still being built) the infrastructure is unable to cope. Which is why we decided to move to this lovely quiet village to get away from it all. 12 dwellings probably won’t stop at 12 as we have seen in the past.

Further development in the village will exacerbate the existing problem with drainage and flooding in the village.
This proposed development of 12 dwellings I believe to be a precursor to a much larger scheme on this field. Also the elevated position of the site will result in unacceptable overlooking to existing properties.

Whilst I do not object to small scale development within the existing footprint of the village this proposal suggests significantly more than the stated 12 dwellings could be built. The village infrastructure cannot support large scale development. The village has no facilities to support this development - not even a functioning bus stop. Development would require car access to schools, jobs & shops when we are in an age of wanting to encourage more environmentally sustainable living. Currently it is not possible to cycle into Norwich or Dereham safely without taking in major de-tours around surrounding villages.

This is a small village with no facilities for more residents. No shop, school or doctors' surgery. New residents would probably commute to Dereham or Norwich and drive children to school, adding to existing traffic problems and pollution. This is an area of natural beauty and interest with a wide variety of wildlife including red kites and newts. Residents have chosen to live here because this is the environment in which they want to live. It would be an unnecessary destruction of rural landscape when there are alternative sites in Norwich where facilities are available in walking distance.

Small rural village with no amenities other than a pub. No schools. No Drs Surgery. No shops. Bus service a walk uphill of almost a mile from this development, irregular service, nothing in or out after 5pm. A garage for specialist repairs, does not sell fuel or goods. Traffic increase through village would be significant, thus noise and pollution increase. Drainage already poor, could cause further flooding issues. River Tud has significant bio diversity which would be endangered by extra pollution. Red kite and Tawney owls hunt these fields and so population would decline, ditto bats. Otters in Tud too.

This application is open ended for further development behind the planned infill, which would increase the village dwellings by a third, and as Highway England propose that the existing A47 road to the north would grant a further access to the planned site its a foregone conclusion that further development would be granted. This would significantly change the village ambience, which has no amenities apart from a pub. In the original application, there was mention of a garage, where one could supposedly purchase everyday items. Not true, does not exist, repair and refurbish workshops maybe. Repeat NO AMENITIES.

Why was planning refused recently for 1 single infill property based on no infrastructure but suddenly 12 are OK! Recent flooding down the street will be exacerbated. There will be a significant effect on wildlife- there is a substantial Red Kite population and roost nearby which will be adversely affected.
